COWGIRL

Author’s Note

The Legacy of Trickey’s West
Book I: Winning

Is intended to showcase the inclusion of cowgirls as equal companions to our iconic cowboy mythology. It is intended to provide insight into the contemporary problems women face within a historical perspective, within an insular community of athletes, during a time of tremendous social and political change. This is a novel and a work of fiction, which means that the people and/or events are not historically or factually accurate. While this story is inspired by actual events, certain characters, characterizations, incidents, locations, conversations and dialogue are fictionalized and invented for purposes of dramatization. With respect to such fictionalization and invention, any similarity to the name or to the actual character or the history and biography of any person, or any product or entity, or actual incident, is entirely for dramatic purposes and is not intended to reflect on any actual character, person, location, history, product or entity.

This book happens to be based on actual events, which occurred to people who lived, loved, won and lost over one hundred years ago. I claim the prerogative of a fiction writer to alter reality to fit the narrative. It is intended for Young Adults (Tweens, Teens and Twenty-Somethings) who face the universal themes of growing up, when everything, school, parents, friends, first romances and sports competitions feels like life and death.
If you want other versions, there are several excellent books on the magnificent legacy of the cowgirls and the pioneer rodeo cowgirls.
I hope you’ll enjoy the ride …
